Troubleshooting your Tail Boot:

Received your Tail Boot and you're not happy with your order?

  • We aren't perfect... but who is. We understand the Tail Boot is not for everyone. We offer 30-day returns and shipping labels can be printed through the email you received with your order in the top right corner (See info above).
  • Returning because of issues in quality? The Tail Boot stands behind our product. We have boots that are 4-5 years old. Swishers do need replaced especially in the summer months when bugs are at their peak. If you have any issues, (we do have a 30 day warranty but will usually extend beyond that especially for any defects) please send photos to tailboot@aol.com and we will be happy to make it right with you.
  • My Tail Boot didn't stay on more than 24 hours... Please visit our "How to Apply" page and watch the video. This usually happens because the insert wasn't fed through the tail and attached to the boot on the other side or because the boot wasn't applied with compression.

Tail Boot FAQ's:

  • The number one question we receive is how often should your boot be redone? If properly put on, in the peak season of bugs, you should be able to go 1-2 weeks. Every horse is different but as soon as it starts to get a little ruffled on the top of the boot. In the winter in the cold country, we have been guilty of leaving the boot in for several months.
  • Nothing should ever cover your horses tail bone. If the boot is sitting too high, adjust the velcro tab connected to the insert. If you're still have problems, you can connect the insert to the top of the boot instead of through the eye. (Should only apply if you have a draft with a docked tail).
  • The Tail Boot should sit a few inches below the base of the tail bone in order to allow the hairs at the base of the tail bone more mobility.
  • If you have a horse that regularly rubs their tail, you can section off the top part of the tail and leave those hairs out of the boot to prevent snagging from rubbing.
  • The tail should not be placed in the boot wet or be allowed to become fully saturated with water. The Tail Boot is water resistant and hosing off is allowed but full submersion into water should be prevented.
  • Parts of your braided tail should not stick out of the top of your boot.
  • If you have livestock that like to chew on tails, coat your tail with no chew or another deterrent to break them from their habit.
  • How long does it take for my horses tail to grow? You should see 6-12 inches of growth over the year depending on genetics; plus your feed and care program.
